THE ABSOLUTE SOUND LIKES AIX!

On what seems to a visitor from the steamy East Coast an impossibly beautiful July afternoon, I’m sitting at Dr. Mark Waldrep’s mixing console, in cool semi-darkness. I’m in Los Angeles to meet Waldrep, the man behind AIX Records and iTrax, for a demonstration of his live action music 3-D Blu-rays. Waldrep isn’t here: he’s been called to Nashville to caucus with Naxos regarding distribution of his chronically underappreciated recordings, a major coup. But the engineer/producer has suggested that I stop by anyway. We talk by phone for a while, then an assistant plays me selections from AIX’s 3D Bluray music demo disc that range from a Mozart string quartet to solo jazz piano to Mark Chesnutt’s country band to Rita Coolidge belting out “Brickyard Blues.” The 3-D video aspect is interesting—if, for me, unessential. But the multichannel audio, emanating from five B&W 801 loudspeakers, is quite simply the most realistic and involving instance of recorded sound I can recall, from any source format. Some Great Feedback!

Almost every day I receive a phone call or email from a customer raving about the quality of our recordings. This week I heard from a gentleman in Illinois that had received our most recent sampler with his Oppo BDP-83 a while back. When he played the included sampler he was "blown away" and had to call me and share his enthusiasm. I also had a phone call with the CEO of a major speaker maker. He had recently heard the same sampler and wanted to know how he could obtain copies so that he could bundle it with his speakers. He wants his customer to know how great his products are and nothing shows them off better than AIX tracks.

So It is with obvious pleasure that I share some of these comments on this web site. Yesterday, we spent almost 24 hours straight watching progress bars as we tried to get a new 3D Music Album completed. There is a very tight deadline associated with our June releases through Naxos. In the midst of a very stressful day, I received the following email from a long time audio/video "pilgrim" after he received our newly minted Mozart 3D Music Album.

Hi Mark - Chris, at Aix Records Order desk Just to thank you for delivery of my Order for AIX 86065 -MOZART (I hope you welcome customer Feedback!) This delivery was definitely worth waiting for! More of the same soon please! I regard it as a privilege to have access to this superb production. Faultless would be the most apt description I can come up with. The attention to detail in all aspects is truly awe inspiring - staging, composition, lighting, camera angles, ambience -- and above all the glorious music and impeccable performances, woven together in totally convincing 3D video and state-of-the-art audio. All these factors combined to convince me that the Old City String Quartet actually dropped in to perform for me alone yesterday afternoon

This is the Holy Grail at last. You may like to know that I have been a pilgrim in what started off as the "hi-fi movement" since the early 1950s, starting out just as the old shellac "78" started to give way to microgroove vinyl. It is so satisfying to have survived to sample the audio and visual marvel of this Mozart performance, in virtual reality. And I would like you to know that I truly appreciate the hard work which must have gone into achieving such a level of perfection, from all the AIX team involved.

Sincere thanks again for providing the "Holy Grail", for this weary pilgrim! I do hope this disc will win plaudits for AIX records. Best wishes for future successes!
